Description
MUST BE A RESIDENT OF CHICAGO OR THE CHICAGO AREA TO APPLY.
Responsibilities
- Lead weekly craft/activity programs for guests at the hostel
- Facilitate cultural exchange by interacting with guests and offering recommendations
- Set up and clean up the event space
- Provide suggestions for activities and themes
- Engage guests in conversations and discussions
- Offer recommendations on activities based on heritage months or holidays
Requirements
- Must be 18+
- Standing and lifting up to 20lbs required for most tasks
Purpose/Definition and HI USA Mission
HI USA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit education association with the purpose of "inspiring a deeper understanding of people, places, and cultures for a more tolerant world." As a non-profit, the revenues received through overnight stays and memberships are reinvested in mission delivery.
Schedule
We are looking for volunteers to assist with weekly Tuesday and/or Thursday evening events for 2+ hours each. Timing is flexible but volunteer must decide a consistent time for all Tuesdays or all Thursdays. Must start after 3:30pm. Example: Tuesdays 6-8pm or Thursdays 3:30-5pm.
