Lead Cup Screening Parties & Facilitate Cultural Exchange with International & Domestic Hostel Guests!

About the role
HI Chicago is looking for volunteers to lead and support welcome parties for guests at our bustling Chicago hostel. These Welcome Parties allow guests to meet and interact with each other, and provide an opportunity for guests to learn about Chicago history and local communities/neighborhoods.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support welcome parties for guests at the hostel
- Facilitate conversations and activities to foster cultural exchange among guests
- Set up the screening area for World Cup viewing parties
- Make and serve popcorn during World Cup viewing parties
- Work with volunteers' schedules to plan at least three game watch events
Requirements
- Must be 18+
- Standing for long periods and lifting up to 20 lbs may be required
Qualifications
Volunteers should have a passion for travel, a friendly demeanor, and a willingness to engage with diverse groups of people.
Skills
- Public speaking
- Foreign language skills (optional)
- Interpersonal communication skills

Pay
No pay is offered for this volunteer position.
Schedule
We are looking for volunteers to lead World Cup viewing parties at the hostel. Volunteers will work with their schedule to plan at least three game watch events. The volunteer will set up the screening area in the hostel, make and serve popcorn, and facilitate activities or conversations to foster cultural exchange among guests.
Training
Training will be provided to ensure volunteers are prepared to lead welcome parties and World Cup viewing parties effectively.
