Mission

HI USA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, member-based organization dedicated to bringing moments of cultural understanding to our guests and community members. We reinvest our surpluses back into our hostels and programs to maximize their impact.

Purpose

Our mission is to "inspire a deeper understanding of people, places, and cultures for a more tolerant world." As a non-profit, we reinvest revenues from overnight stays and memberships into mission delivery.

About the Role

HI Chicago is seeking volunteers to lead a weekly morning program for guests at our bustling Chicago hostel. The "Toast & Jams" event facilitates interaction among travelers from around the world, providing them with information about the hostel and the city.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly morning breakfast events for 2.5 to 3 hours (including setup and cleanup)
• Facilitate cultural exchange and interaction among guests
• Provide information about the hostel and the city
• Stand for long periods and move/lift up to 20 lbs

Requirements

• Must be 18+
• Standing required for long periods
• Moving/lifting up to 20 lbs required
