Responsibilities
- Receives and greets all patients and visitors professionally and provides assistance.
- Recognizes patient acuity before triage.
- Takes and relays messages accurately.
- Collects and enters patient information into the patient record.
- Maintains patient files, charts, and records.
- Completes daily assignments.
- Communicates with the educator on clinical workflow.
- Schedules staff and implements daily huddles.
- Maintains and updates clinical workflows, policies, and procedures.
- Assists the Physician/Provider with various patient care duties.
- Performs routine laboratory and EKG tests.
- Administers and records medications and injections.
- Interprets instructions to patients and provides patient education.
- Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment daily.
- Schedules referrals and prepares procedure rooms.
- Supports workman’s compensation paperwork.
- Completes DOT assessments and drug screenings.
- Telephones and performs triage upon patient arrival.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees.
- Completes mandatory education and training.
- Maintains licenses and certifications.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements and compliance.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 17 years of age.
- Must be certified or registered as a Medical Assistant.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
- Ability to speak and write Spanish is desired.
Skills
- Knowledge of and competency in performing patient care procedures.
- Ability to perform vena puncture.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of billing, office procedures, and computer skills.
- Analytical skills to solve patient problems and interpret data.
