About the role
The Orthopaedic Center is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) Lead to join their team. This full-time position averages 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Assist various orthopedic physicians under the direction of the Clinical Coordinator
- Provide coverage for clinical teams as needed
- Manage physician clinic and delegate clinical work following the direction of the physician
- Manage team personnel issues, escalating to manager/director and HR when appropriate
- Perform general nursing duties, suture/staple removal, and wound care/dressing changes
- Draw up and call in medications
- Apply sterile fields and remove casts and splints
- Locate necessary imaging, test results or reports for upcoming appointments
- Schedule and precertify MRI’s, lab work, procedures, and surgeries
- Prepare for clinic by printing patient information, restocking supplies, powering up computers, etc.
- Absorb and verify pre-op labs and schedule surgery clearances as needed
- Fill out disability, return-to-work, and insurance forms
- Obtain physician signature on miscellaneous forms
- Travel locally to satellite offices as schedule requires
- Communicate effectively with patients, TOC physicians and staff via phone and email
- Answer and return patient phone calls, appointment/surgery reminder calls, respond to and chart patient messages, and communicate test results to patients with direction from physicians
- Provide various forms of patient education and handouts
- Escort patients to and from exam rooms
Requirements
Required certifications: ROT or CCMA within the first 90 days of employment
Minimum one-year full-time clinical experience in healthcare preferred
