POSITION SUMMARY
Oversees servicing, repairing, and overall maintenance of aircraft avionics to verify aircrafts are safe for flight. Ensures compliance to all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervises production personnel and ensures safe work practices are followed.
- Plans, directs, and coordinates activities to minimize delays and increase production and efficiency.
- Manages scheduled and drop-in maintenance tasks, including back shop tasks.
- Researches future service bulletins, ADs, STCs, and installations to prepare for tooling, manpower, and material needs.
- Coordinates with other department leads to optimize workflow processes.
- Trains and assists subordinates in proper procedures, methods, and practices.
- Maintains equipment and tools in serviceable condition and ensures proper work record execution.
- Handles parts during repair process and preserves units or parts throughout the facility.
- Initiates requisitions for stock and materials as required.
- Must be properly certified in accordance with FAR Part 65.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts routine or special maintenance inspections to prevent failure of aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
- Performs complete operational and functional checks on navigation, communication, and flight control systems.
- Fabricates wiring harnesses, installs/modifies avionic and electrical systems.
- Determines when components need repair or replacement and decides on repair schemes and part quantities.
- Follows approved maintenance procedures and consults approved manuals, OEM technical data, and work packages.
- Inspects completed work, identifies needed rework, performs rework, and ensures repaired components meet prescribed standards.
- Performs serviceability tests on repaired components/systems using test equipment.
- Completes work package documentation by signing/stamping off after designated operations.
- Installs electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft.
- Interprets avionic/electrical wiring diagrams, wire identification, harness fabrication, wiring, cable integrity, coax cables, fittings, and connector assemblies.
- Adjusts, repairs, or replaces malfunctioning components or assemblies.
- Troubleshoots, repairs, reworks, and modifies worn or defective assemblies, components, or systems.
- Delegates duties in his absence to qualified personnel as necessary but retains overall responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Advanced knowledge of all possible tasks and responsibilities within the technical area.
- Strong understanding of external regulations and functional work standards affecting technical requirements and outputs.
- Leadership in applying new processes and skills to improve technician function status quo.
- Strong knowledge of aircraft electrical/electronic components, systems, and functions.
- Interpretation and comprehension of aircraft technical documentation – metric system.
- Electronic/Avionic Troubleshooting skills.
- Team player.
WORKING CONDITIONS / ENVIRONMENT / SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work safely and professionally, adhering to Embraer standards and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to wear a respirator as per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 regulations without restrictions.
- Flexibility to work flexible hours and different shifts if required.
- Subject to random drug and alcohol testing under FAA regulations.
