Lead Athletic Utility Worker
Job Summary
The Lead Athletic Utility Worker assists the Athletic Director in maintaining an efficient inventory and maintenance system for all athletic equipment and supplies. They also plan department work requests for athletic programs and identify specific department needs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintains an efficient and accurate system for inventory and maintenance of all Athletic Department sport program and event management equipment and supplies.
- Receives, verifies, and processes new uniform inventory.
- Keeps accurate records on uniform sizing and maintains an inventory of uniforms at the start/end of each season and prepares list of missing items for billing purposes.
- Works directly with Athletic Administration to formulate uniform, equipment, and supply orders based on consistent assessment of the condition of said uniform, equipment, and supplies.
- Washes, dries, folds, sorts, and prepares uniform sets, towels, and related items (approximately 1500 pieces per day) for student athletes and approved coaches assigned to a variety of athletic teams on a daily basis.
- Issues competition and practice clothes utilizing check-out/return system.
- Supervises athletic locker room use by ensuring student athletes follow procedures and established rules, securing locker room, and monitoring appropriate use of locker room facilities.
- Sizes and issues practice uniforms to student athletes at the start of each season. Issues lockers and maintains accurate records of locker issuance.
- Picks up and/or delivers assigned athletic equipment to various locations as required for practices and games.
Position Requirements
- Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent, minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience, valid Driver’s License, ability to prioritize and complete multiple job assignments, ability to understand and follow through on verbal and written instructions, previous experience utilizing laundry cleaning and stain removal techniques, able to work a flexible work schedule to include evenings, weekends, holidays as needed, able to lift and push supplies, equipment or laundry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a school setting, working knowledge of computers.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently sits, performs desk-based computer tasks and grasps light or fine manipulation, talks or hears.
- Frequently stands and/or walks, writes by hand.
- Able to lift and push supplies, equipment or laundry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Occasionally twists, bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crawls, climbs, reaches or work above shoulder, or grasp firmly.
Working Conditions
This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
