About the role

Individuals in the Business Analysis role serve as a liaison between the business community and the IT organization. They collect, analyze, develop, document, and communicate business requirements, and support user testing to achieve business goals. Business Analysts continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction, deepen client relationships, and effectively manage customer expectations.

Based on a broad understanding of business needs and processes, they collaborate with IT professionals to determine if solutions exist (internally or externally) or whether new solutions are feasible. They assess how solutions will impact existing work processes and systems and manage integration. Business Analysis professionals identify technology opportunities that impact corporate business strategies and performance, educate project teams on business goals, and demonstrate innovation in proposing and overseeing business solutions.

Through adaptable communication skills, they translate between technical and business language, negotiate requirements across groups, and work collaboratively. Business Analysts must understand the client’s existing business processes, key success drivers, and short- and long-term business direction, along with related technologies. They must possess strong leadership, relationship management, interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
