About the role
As a Layout Engineer Intern, you'll be immersed in translating design plans into real-world construction. Your role involves mastering precise measurements, spatial alignment, and layout implementation to ensure accurate placement of structures and components on the construction site.
Responsibilities
- Interpret architectural and engineering blueprints, understanding spatial relationships and dimensions depicted in the plans.
- Learn to use 2D and 3D CAD models for robotic construction layout.
- Assist in preparing the construction site for layout activities, ensuring the area is ready for accurate measurements and positioning.
- Gain expertise in using surveying equipment, laser levels, and other tools to take precise measurements and establish reference points.
- Collaborate with experienced layout engineers to ensure structures, foundations, and key components align with design plans.
- Participate in translating design dimensions onto the actual construction site, marking key points and lines for construction activities.
- Engage in quality checks to verify the accuracy of layout measurements, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
- Work closely with project managers and construction teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment during the layout process.
- Contribute to finding solutions when discrepancies arise between design plans and on-site conditions, helping maintain project integrity.
- Maintain accurate records of layout activities, measurements, and adjustments made during the construction process.
- Engage in learning opportunities to enhance your understanding of layout engineering techniques and tools.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Familiarity with construction layout techniques, instruments, and software.
- Proficiency in using AutoCAD, Total Station, and other relevant tools.
- Ability to interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications for accurate layout implementation.
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure precise measurements and alignment.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams.
- Willingness to troubleshoot layout challenges and find solutions on-site.
- Collaborative attitude, capable of working closely with other team members, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Effective time management skills to meet layout deadlines within project schedules.
- Ability to work on construction sites, often requiring standing, walking, and working outdoors.
