About the role

This position involves performing technical legal work in support of professional staff attorneys. Duties include assisting in legal research, drafting and checking documents and forms, and supporting various other areas as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Reads records and transcripts of cases scheduled for hearing
  • Assists in research and checks cited authority and specific laws and statutes
  • Selects, assembles and compiles substantive information on statutes and specific legal subjects
  • Independently prepares numerous basic and complex legal documents and correspondence in conformance with applicable statutes, rules, minute orders, and court directives
  • Applies legal policies and procedures and reviews documents for compliance with applicable rules of court
  • Indexes, groups and classifies legal opinions rendered by the office
  • Takes and transcribes dictation

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school and one (1) year of experience at the Grade I level or five (5) years of progressively complex work experience in a legal or judicial environment involving the examination of legal documents for adherence to law, policies and procedures and the rules of court, including or supplemented by one (1) year of experience involving legal research, preparation, typing, processing, drafting and checking a variety of legal documents and forms, and other para-legal tasks
  • One (1) year of experience at the Grade I level or five (5) years of progressively complex work experience in a legal or judicial environment involving the examination of legal documents for adherence to law, policies and procedures and the rules of court, including or supplemented by one (1) year of experience involving legal research, preparation, typing, processing, drafting and checking a variety of legal documents and forms, and other para-legal tasks

Pay

Salary range from $4,742, SR-18-C, to $4,933, SR-18-D, per month.
