About the role
The New York office of a top 50 law firm seeks an associate with 3 or more years of experience to join its Intellectual Property practice.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement patent filing strategies
- Prepare patent applications
- Analyze office actions and prepare responses
- Conduct interviews with Patent Office examiners and other patent prosecution-related activity
- Assist in patent and other litigation
- Support intellectual property licensing and other transactions
- Write scientific and technical documents in clear concise English
- Manage a docket with multiple clients and deadlines
- Conduct legal and technical research and analysis
- Supervise and mentor other Associates and Patent Agents on related work assignments
Requirements
- Must be registered with USPTO
- 3 years of patent prosecution experience
- 3 years of experience working in a law firm environment, or equivalent experience in a corporate setting
- 3 years of patent application drafting experience
- 3 years of experience working with limited supervision utilizing time management skills
- 3 years of experience working collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
