About the Role
This position develops and leads staff to assist in alleviating the detrimental effects of domestic violence and behavioral issues on victims. The role involves professional interaction with victims, other Tribes, Tribal Programs, State, and Federal agencies, as well as assisting with the administration of State and Federal contracts and grants. This staff member serves as the front-line representative for community outreach activities related to the Domestic Violence Program.
If licensed to provide such services, this position may work individually with clients who have addiction, suicidal ideation, or domestic violence concerns.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates the Omaha Tribe's core mission, vision, and values.
- Manages assigned groups with appropriate training if needed.
- Assists with monthly and annual reports as required.
- Facilitates trainings for the community, agencies, and other groups on topics such as domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, stalking, murder and missing women and children, bullying, dating violence, and healthy relationships.
- Uses data collection systems as required by funding sources.
- Provides intervention and prevention services to victims of crime, batterers, and the community.
- Delivers education to the community and other agencies through presentations, in-service trainings, program orientation, networking, and team building via appropriate curriculum development, including planning and promoting activities that promote healing for families.
- Devises, implements, and maintains a public awareness campaign against domestic violence within the scope of the program.
- Maintains confidentiality of clients in accordance with mandatory reporting requirements.
- Ensures ethical treatment of clients.
- Becomes knowledgeable of program organization, philosophy, functions, policies, and procedures mandated by State and Federal regulations.
- Works closely with project staff to accomplish program goals and community awareness/prevention activities.
- Presents educational workshops and program education sessions as needed.
- Staffs community/outreach events and exhibits as required.
- Identifies and enlists the cooperation of individuals, groups, social service agencies, and other community organizations in educational outreach activities.
- Attends trainings, webinars, and conference calls concerning programs as necessary.
- Facilitates events and groups as required.
- Assembles a group for updates to Tribal codes.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) with 5 years of demonstrated experience in case work and administration.
- Compliance with 45 CFR 1301, Subpart D, Section 1301.31, C and D, requiring a declaration prior to employment regarding all arrests and convictions of child abuse or violent felonies, and compliance with PL 101-630 and PL 101-637 regarding criminal records checks.
- Must have a valid driver's license and meet driver eligibility requirements.
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong reading, writing, and calculating abilities.
- Above-average social interaction skills.
- Strong reasoning and analytical skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and/or with minimal to no supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills and competence with computers and software programs such as Microsoft Excel and Publisher.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours.
- Ability to work independently, under supervision, and in a team-based, goal-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including managing and prioritizing projects with multiple and often competing deadlines, and ability to work under pressure.
Physical Requirements
- Normal to light office work, including the ability to lift up to 10 lbs.
- Regularly required to walk, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Regular use of hands to operate computer keyboard, phone, and various office equipment.
