House Coordinator (Per Diem)

About the role

The House Coordinator is responsible and accountable for coordinating the activities and providing clinical and supervisory leadership for the overall Department of Nursing on a specific shift, including Med-Surg, ICU, Emergency, Surgery, and Oncology. This role works closely with all departments to ensure optimal patient care and contributes to the organization's vision, mission, and strategic plan. The House Coordinator is accountable for Standards of Care and Practice in areas where clinical nursing is practiced.

The House Coordinator performs supervisory duties, charge nurse duties on the medical/surgical unit, and provides direct patient care as needed in any department during their shift. Responsibilities include making rounds to patients on the Medical Surgical unit and ICU every shift, as well as all Nursing departments in the Medical Center at least every four hours or as needed. The House Coordinator serves as the clinical backup RN for specialty areas (ED, ICU, ONC, and PACU/SDS).

The role requires knowledge of CMS (HCFA) standards for Critical Access Hospitals, New Hampshire Department of Health guidelines, New Hampshire Board of Nursing rules, and Weeks Medical Center's policies, procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with all departments to ensure optimal patient care.
• Perform supervisory and charge nurse duties on the medical/surgical unit.
• Provide direct patient care as needed in any department during the shift.
• Make rounds to patients on the Medical Surgical unit and ICU every shift.
• Conduct rounds to all Nursing departments in the Medical Center at least every four hours or as needed.
• Serve as the clinical backup RN for specialty areas (ED, ICU, ONC, and PACU/SDS).
• Ensure compliance with CMS standards, state guidelines, and organizational policies.

Requirements

• Current registered nurse license in the State of New Hampshire (BSN, BS, or BA strongly preferred).
• BLS, ACLS, and Basic Dysrhythmia course certifications required.
• Critical Care course required; must complete within 6 months of hire if not already certified.
• PALS and MOAB certification required within one year of hire.
• NRP and TNCC certification required within two years of hire.
• At least five years of current clinical experience; two years of experience in ED and ICU strongly preferred.
• Orientation to both ED and ICU required for those without prior critical care experience.
• Excellent interpersonal, conflict management, and time management skills.

Schedule

All new hires are required to attend a mandatory three-day orientation at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster, NH. If Weeks Medical Center is not your designated home base, travel reimbursement is available in accordance with the standard travel policy.
