Responsibilities

• Teach Latin noun declensions (first through third), verb conjugations (present, imperfect, perfect tenses), basic sentence structure, vocabulary acquisition, and Roman cultural/historical context.
• Explain grammatical concepts such as nominative, accusative, genitive, dative, and ablative case functions, and subject-object-verb word order.
• Guide students in parsing verb forms, identifying noun cases in context, translating simple Latin passages, and recognizing English derivatives from Latin roots.
• Emphasize systematic grammar learning and connect Latin to English vocabulary, Romance languages, and Roman history/mythology.
• Adapt instruction using paradigm charts, vocabulary root analysis, and graded Latin readings to support beginning students at middle school, high school, or college levels.
• Identify common student challenges (e.g., memorizing declension/conjugation paradigms, understanding the case system) and tailor instruction accordingly.
• Provide personalized instruction through 1-on-1 online tutoring or on-demand instant tutoring.

Requirements

• Advanced mastery of Latin 1 topics, including noun declensions, verb conjugations, sentence structure, and Roman cultural/historical context.
• Familiarity with Latin 1 curricula and common student challenges (e.g., memorization, case systems, translation strategies).
• Ability to explain concepts using multiple approaches and adapt to different learning styles.
• Strong communication skills and an engaging teaching style.
