Responsibilities

• Teach Latin noun declensions (first through third), verb conjugations (present, imperfect, and perfect tenses), and basic sentence structure.
• Explain grammatical concepts such as nominative, accusative, genitive, dative, and ablative case functions, and subject-object-verb word order.
• Guide students in parsing verb forms, identifying noun cases in context, translating simple Latin passages, and recognizing English derivatives from Latin roots.
• Adapt instruction using paradigm charts, vocabulary root analysis, and graded Latin readings to support beginning students at middle school, high school, or college levels.
• Connect Latin to English vocabulary, Romance language foundations, and Roman history and mythology.
• Provide personalized instruction through 1-on-1 online tutoring or accept on-demand tutoring requests.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Latin 1 curriculum, including morphology, translation techniques, and grammatical analysis.
• Familiarity with common challenges such as memorizing declension and conjugation paradigms, understanding the case system, and developing translation strategies.
• Ability to identify and address concepts students commonly struggle with using multiple teaching approaches.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles and student needs.
