Responsibilities

• Teach Latin noun declensions (first through third), verb conjugations (present, imperfect, perfect tenses), and basic sentence structure.
• Explain grammatical concepts such as nominative, accusative, genitive, dative, and ablative case functions, and subject-object-verb word order.
• Guide students in Latin morphology, translation techniques, and grammatical analysis, including parsing verb forms and identifying noun cases.
• Help students translate simple Latin passages and recognize English derivatives from Latin roots.
• Connect Latin to English vocabulary, Romance language foundations, and Roman history and mythology.
• Adapt instruction using paradigm charts, vocabulary root analysis, and graded Latin readings to support beginning students.
• Identify and address common student challenges, such as memorizing declension/conjugation paradigms and understanding the case system.
• Use multiple teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and styles.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of Latin 1 curricula and common student challenges at the middle school, high school, or college level.
• Ability to teach Latin grammar systematically, emphasizing foundational skills for continued study and standardized assessments.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
• Ability to adapt instruction to different learning styles and student needs.
