Laser Operator

About the role

We are seeking a skilled operator to join our team at Sacoma. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a company that values quality, precision, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and run 2D laser cutting machines safely and efficiently
• Program and nest parts using DXF files for optimal material utilization
• Load and adjust laser programs and troubleshoot as needed
• Perform first piece and in-process quality inspections
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work orders
• Handle material loading/unloading and organize parts per job requirements
• Identify and correct quality issues or nonconforming parts
• Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
• Support continuous improvement efforts and maintain 5S standards

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED
• Familiarity with material handling equipment
• Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Excellent attendance and willingness to work overtime
• Ability to lift 50 pounds continuously
• Ability to pull and position steel sheets
• Ability to stand for long periods

Qualifications

• Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, talking, and hearing
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move 50 pounds and occasionally lift or pull 50+ pounds with assistance
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Hearing capacity is required to maximize the ability to understand all verbal communication and react accordingly
