About the role
To provide language proficiency assessment information by assessing, scoring and maintaining records.
Responsibilities
- Administers and scores language assessment tests
- Records test information into student information system
- Arranges for testing of students through school-site staff
- Provides support for immigrant families
- Coordinates with special education department regarding translation for reclassification meetings
- Maintains and updates foreign language list monthly
- Assists with Rosetta Stone language program for immigrant families
- Coordinates with the Family and Community Engagement department (FACE) to stay updated with services for families
- Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, and personal and collective accountability
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma and/or some college training
- Ability to fluently speak, read and write English and Spanish
- Skill and accuracy in oral and written expression
- Ability to respect confidential matters
- Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions
- Ability to work with adults and children in a personable manner
- Possession of valid driver’s license and car for use on district business
- Must pass required tests (Spanish Literacy Test, by invitation only; Bakersfield College - Tier II Bilingual Certificate will be accepted in lieu of district’s Spanish Literacy test)
- Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice
- Verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training within six weeks of hire and annually thereafter
- Proof of privately owned automobile insurance and valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license (if required by position)
Pay
$18.82 - $30.68 per hour
