Language Assessor

Reports to: Administrator as assigned

About the role

To provide language proficiency assessment information by assessing, scoring and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Administers and scores language assessment tests
• Records test information into student information system
• Arranges for testing of students through school-site staff
• Provides support for immigrant families
• Coordinates with special education department regarding translation for reclassification meetings
• Maintains and updates foreign language list monthly
• Assists with Rosetta Stone language program for immigrant families
• Coordinates with the Family and Community Engagement department (FACE) to stay updated with services for families
• Models personal and professional values of equity, integrity, caring, collaboration, and personal and collective accountability
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma and/or some college training
• Ability to fluently speak, read and write English and Spanish
• Skill and accuracy in oral and written expression
• Ability to respect confidential matters
• Ability and willingness to follow oral and written directions
• Ability to work with adults and children in a personable manner
• Possession of valid driver’s license and car for use on district business
• Must pass required tests (Spanish Literacy Test, by invitation only; Bakersfield College - Tier II Bilingual Certificate will be accepted in lieu of district’s Spanish Literacy test)
• Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice
• Verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training within six weeks of hire and annually thereafter
• Proof of privately owned automobile insurance and valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license (if required by position)

Pay

$18.82 - $30.68 per hour
