Landscape Designer/Sales

About the Role

This is a design and sales position requiring extensive client interaction. You will meet with prospective clients to determine their goals, create landscape plans, present estimates, and assist the Production Manager during the construction phase to ensure the client’s vision is accurately translated through installation. The position reports directly to the Owners and Senior Design Staff and involves regular collaboration with landscape designers, the Operations Manager, and the Construction Foreman.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to determine project scope.
• Create landscape plans, conceptual plans, and renderings for client presentation.
• Review and present estimates, budgets, and phasing plans for clients.
• Work with the Production Manager and Project Foreman to schedule and coordinate project construction.
• Regularly visit construction sites to ensure the client’s vision is implemented.
• Create and process change orders.
• Assist with construction budgets and job costing.
• Represent the company’s best interest and maintain the highest level of integrity.
• Find and capture sales leads.
• Assist other designers with ideas and design concepts.
• Communicate promptly and courteously with clients, builders, sub-contractors, vendors, and co-workers.
• Dress, speak, and act professionally.
• Assist in the review, presentation, and collection of client invoicing.

Requirements

• BS in Landscape Design or Architecture.
• 3 years of experience working as a landscape designer for a professional landscape firm.
• Highly motivated and self-starter.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Proficiency in CAD.
• Highly creative with a drive to produce “one-of-a-kind” designs that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong character and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Landscape construction experience.
• Horticulture background.
• Estimating and job costing experience.
• Thorough knowledge of landscape materials and processes.
• Experience with sprinkler and landscape lighting design.
• Experience with SketchUp.
