Landscape Crew Leader, Installation

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret landscape designs, site plans, and installation instructions
  • Plan daily crew tasks based on schedules, weather, and site conditions
  • Cook up tools, materials, and equipment needed for each installation phase

Crew Supervision & Development

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise landscape laborers and technicians
  • Provide hands-on instruction and reinforce safe work practices
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members

Construction & Installation Execution

  • Oversee and perform installation of plant material, turf, mulch, and hardscape elements (patios, walkways, retaining walls, irrigation systems)
  • Ensure all work aligns with specifications, grades, and layout plans
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently

Quality Control & Site Management

  • Maintain job site cleanliness, equipment condition, and safety compliance
  • Identify quality issues early and implement corrective actions
  • Track labor hours and material usage accurately
  • Submit clear, timely documentation

Customer Communication & Problem Solving

  • Communicate updates, progress, and concerns to Operations Managers and clients
  • Resolve unexpected on-site challenges quickly and professionally
  • Represent the company in a courteous, service-oriented manner

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Experience: 2–3 years in the landscaping industry; installation experience preferred
  • Licensing: Valid driver's license required; DOT medical card or equipment certifications a plus
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of landscape installation, grading, hardscape layout, planting, and irrigation basics
    • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced field environment
    • Proficiency with construction tools and equipment (skid steers, trenchers, compactors, power tools)
    • Ability to adjust schedules and crew assignments due to weather, delays, or site conditions
    • Strong organizational and recordkeeping abilities
    • Clear, professional verbal communication
    • High attention to detail and strong commitment to safety
