Duties Summary

Performs counter work in reviewing building permit applications and architectural and cadastral plans for conformance to the Zoning Code and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations; reviews and approves as authorized building permits for simple to moderately complex residential and commercial structures; receives subdivision and zoning applications; and performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Training and Experience: A Combination Of Education And Experience Substantially Equivalent To graduation from high school, and one (1) year of experience in reviewing building plans and specifications for compliance with provisions of laws, codes and/or ordinances.

Knowledge and Abilities

  • General provisions of county planning laws, rules and regulations;
  • General provisions of the Zoning Code and other related ordinances;
  • Urban planning terminology;
  • The building permitting process;
  • Simple drafting;
  • Office practices and procedures;
  • Basic software applications such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.

  • Persons seeking appointment to positions in this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties.
