Responsibilities

• Encourage breastfeeding to support infant health and provide consultations, educational materials, and classes for parents and medical staff.
• Evaluate parent and baby interest in breastfeeding and offer specialized assistance for mothers.
• Conduct bedside consultations and follow-up visits in the hospital.
• Educate medical staff on breastfeeding protocols, care plans, and the latest information.
• Document all teachings and responses, communicating findings to relevant staff members.
• Assess the efficiency of the breastfeeding program and implement necessary improvements.
• Participate in data collection and reporting on neonatal outcomes related to breastfeeding.
• Provide parents with information and demonstrations on breast pump rentals or purchases, as needed.

Requirements

• Associate degree, preferably in nursing.
• Minimum of two years of professional experience.
• Certifications required:
  • BLS Certification
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
  • Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)

Skills

• Ability to provide compassionate care to mothers and babies while respecting diversity and adapting care plans as needed.
• Work autonomously without direct supervision.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to interact positively with diverse individuals.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Basic computer skills, including software use, data entry, record-keeping, and handheld device scanning.
