Lactation Consultant - PRN

About the Role

This position provides lactation support, education, and assistance to mothers and families, helping to promote successful breastfeeding during hospital stays and post-discharge. It involves initiating and maintaining contact with mothers, coordinating outpatient care, and serving as a clinical resource for staff. The role requires collaboration with nursing and ancillary teams to optimize patient comfort and care, adhering to nursing practice guidelines, ethical standards, and organizational values. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to ensure consistent patient contact. The position also includes representing the organization at community outreach and educational activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide lactation support, education, and assistance to mothers and families.
• Promote successful breastfeeding during hospital stays and post-discharge.
• Initiate and maintain contact with mothers.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved nursing program with current RN licensure or permit.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience; preferred BSN and mother/baby care experience.
• Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) certification required.
• Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR or completion within probation.
