About the role
The Lactation Consultant/Maternal Educator (LC/ME) at HealthPark Medical Center is responsible for comprehensive maternal, infant and feeding assessments related to lactation and provides education to clients concerning pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and parenting.Responsibilities
- Comprehensive maternal, infant and feeding assessments related to lactation
- Provides education to clients concerning pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and parenting
- Demonstrates specialized knowledge and clinical expertise in breastfeeding
- Uses the principles of adult education when teaching clients, health care providers and others in the community
- Caregivers based on established clinical nursing practice standards
- Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care and the achievement of desired patient outcomes
- Supports the organization vision and mission
- Uses knowledge of patients age and cultural diversity into the provision of patient care
- Contributes to the provision of quality nursing care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement techniques that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years OB or neonatal nursing experience and/or lactation education experience required
- IBCLC Certification Required
- Current BLS required
