About the role
This position focuses on supporting and integrating laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and automated sample management platforms within a cloud-based research infrastructure. The role requires deep technical expertise in lab network architecture, system integrations, and AWS cloud environments, combined with the ability to translate technical requirements into structured deliverables and coordinate across IT, scientific, and vendor teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop technical requirements, functional specifications, and solution design documentation for the Biostore platform and associated LIMS integrations based on business requirements and collaboration with scientific and business SMEs
- Create and maintain installation plans, deployment plans, test strategies, validation documentation, and SDLC deliverables to support compliant system implementation and operation
- Develop and manage Jira epics, stories, tasks, and Xray test artifacts to support project delivery, system validation, testing, defect management, and ongoing platform enhancement activities
- Produce architecture diagrams, integration specifications, and advanced support documentation for the Biostore solution and connected systems
- Coordinate test execution, issue resolution, release readiness activities, and vendor deliverables to support successful deployment and ongoing support of the platform
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of lab network architecture, including experience with servers, firewalls, VPNs, and routing
- Experience with API integration and web services, including REST/SOAP, TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and MQTT or other device communication protocols
- Hands-on experience connecting web applications with lab instruments and troubleshooting network, middleware, and interface issues
- Experience validating API connectivity between distinct scientific and cloud-hosted applications
- Hands-on experience working within Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments, including managing EC2 instances and monitoring cloud logs/metrics (e.g., CloudWatch)
- Understanding of fundamental cloud networking and security principles
- Hands-on experience supporting Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or automated sample management software
- Strong technical problem-solving skills with experience investigating application alerts including database connectivity drops, hardware controller offline states, and data read/write failures
- Experience operating within a matrixed IT structure, collaborating with Integration Support, Product Owners, Infrastructure teams, and external vendors to coordinate system fixes
- Ability to translate technical anomalies into structured weekly performance reports and issue logs for project stakeholders
Preferred qualifications
- Specific experience with Azenta BioStore, Benchling, or BioInventory systems is highly preferred
