Laborer (Parks and Properties)

Responsibilities

• Grass cutting and snow removal
• Horticulture activities
• Collection of leaves and litter
• Operation of vehicles, including pickup trucks, salt trucks, snowplows, mowers and tractors
• Operation of equipment, including chain saws and brush chippers
• Ongoing daily maintenance of ballfields, pools, ice rink, basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic shelters, skate park, soccer fields and all outdoor/indoor restroom facilities
• May also include indoor duties, including interior maintenance of buildings

Requirements

• A valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B
• Experience driving various types of larger vehicles including pickup and dump trucks (preferred)
• Excellent physical condition with the ability to perform manual labor outdoors in all climatic conditions
• The ability to safely lift approximately 100 pounds independently
• Knowledge of safe work practices from the operation of equipment to the proper use of cleaning chemicals
• Communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisors and the general public
• Available for emergencies requiring overtime hours
• Reliable attendance is required

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
