Job Summary
Aid skilled craft workers in their duties. Follow directions from higher-skilled workers or foremen. Perform tasks requiring effective math skills, waste elimination, and understanding safety hazards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform tasks requiring effective math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transporting, material storage, and time.
- If unsure about work aspects or safety issues, seek guidance from a supervisor before proceeding.
- Learn and understand safety hazards related to the work.
- Learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in work processes and methods.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all crew members.
- Ensure high-quality work is produced safely and productively at all times.
- Provide feedback to ensure all materials, tools, equipment, and information are available for the work.
Minimum Job Requirements
- NCCER Core Curriculum and/or High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year experience (level I), two years' experience (level II), and three plus years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to steel-toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, vests, etc.
- Reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
- Stoop, kneel, or bend on an occasional basis.
- Use telephone, computer systems, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors.
- Move in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.
- Comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects on a frequent basis.
- Lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
