Laborer

About the role

We are seeking a dependable Laborer to join our scrap metal yard team on the night shift. This is a hands-on position working outdoors in an industrial environment at a global leader in metal recycling.

Responsibilities

• Sort and separate ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal
• Assist with general yard cleanup and housekeeping
• Remove debris and maintain safe work areas
• Assist equipment operators and other yard personnel as needed
• Perform basic material handling and manual labor
• Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE
• Inspect materials and sort items or materials into piles or places in bins or barrels according to type, size, condition, coloring, marking, or other characteristics
• Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances

Requirements

• Ability to perform physically demanding work
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (regularly up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 100 lbs)
• Willingness to work around heavy equipment and machinery
• Reliable attendance and ability to work the night shift
• Scrap yard, construction, warehouse, or industrial experience preferred but not required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to work outside under extreme temperature conditions (heat, cold, snow, etc.). The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Schedule

Full-Time – Night Shift (8pm-4:30am)
