About the role
This position is located at the Maintenance Support Division, which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Support Activity Mid-South, Millington, TN. Incumbents are under direct supervision of the Maintenance Director. The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of facilities and maintenance duties in support of the Naval Support Activity Mid-South.
Responsibilities
- Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc.
- Moves heavy boxes or cartons by hand, truck, or dolly. Where directed.
- Opens crates and boxes using crowbars and cuts bands using shears.
- Stacks boxes and cartons or cartons where directed.
- Using a shovel, digs ditches where grading and sloping is not required.
- Fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.
- Runs hand and powered (walking, type) lawnmowers which do not require very heavy physical effort.
- Clears small tress and brushes using hatchet, handsaw, or clipper.
- Moves and arranges furniture as directed.
- May shovel snow, sand, or dirt from sidewalks.
- Collects and empties garbage cans, burns garbage, and trash.
- Washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or using powered buffer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check.
- Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer.
- You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule and be able to work special Command events when needed.
- Required to lift or move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to perform work outside, often exposed to extreme temperatures, drafts, noise, dust, dirt, and require standing on concrete floors for long periods.
