About the role
Darigold is seeking a motivated Laboratory Technician to join the team in Spokane, Washington. This role is responsible for the day-to-day functions in the lab, ensuring all quality and food safety related tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all products' analytical, micro, and organoleptic properties comply with product and regulatory specifications.
- Communicate to appropriate parties when samples do not meet specifications.
- Obtain samples for micro and analytical testing.
- Calibrate and maintain all laboratory equipment per the established schedule.
- Perform extra testing and retesting as needed or directed by management.
- Report results accurately and timely to Quality Assurance, Operations, and Accounting departments via emailed reports and/or in person.
- Prepare Certificates of Analysis as needed and email results to customers.
- Perform swabbing of plant floors, walls, and equipment for microbiological testing and report results.
- Prepare and send samples for third-party monthly, quarterly, and biannual testing.
- Lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Report all food safety and/or quality concerns to Management.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on department needs.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating workloads.
- Basic understanding of microbiology and chemistry.
- Competence using Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic computer literacy.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a science discipline preferred.
- Prior laboratory experience strongly preferred.
- Prior experience in a dairy processing environment preferred.
Schedule
- Days: Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday.
- Off: Friday.
- Shift: 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
Pay
$27.15 - $30.00 per hour.
