About the role
The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient-centered Laboratory Technician II 50% (20 hours per week) to work with our UICC West Branch Family Medicine Clinic. This position also has a supportive laboratory focus, providing phlebotomy support and point-of-care testing.
Responsibilities
- Performs phlebotomy and routine laboratory testing on clinical biological specimens.
- Uses the Laboratory Information System to accession specimens and records results.
- Operates, calibrates, and maintains laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Maintains laboratory area and equipment, cleans, and orders supplies.
- Distributes and packs laboratory specimens.
- Responds to and investigates laboratory questions with minimal guidance.
Requirements
- Two years of related laboratory experience, including one year as a Laboratory Technician I or equivalent.
- Certified Laboratory Assistant (CLA) certification, or combination of education and experience totaling two years.
- Driver's license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
- Availability to support other clinical locations based on clinical need.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Previous EPIC experience preferred.
- Previous Family Medicine Clinic experience preferred.
- Strong phlebotomy skills.
