This Laboratory Technician I position is responsible for the creation of finished goods in the Normal Human and Animal processing laboratory. The role involves processing raw materials using basic laboratory functions, detailed record-keeping, and compliance with standard laboratory practices. Responsibilities

  • Process human and animal biological samples into finished goods by filtering, aliquoting, and labeling raw material in accordance with SOPs.
  • Create detailed records of all processes, data, and results in specified forms, ensuring completion per work instructions.
  • Coordinate with documentation, inventory, and shipping teams to ensure finished goods are created, processed, and shipped accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly processing environment, practice safe work habits, and ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Assist with general upkeep of the laboratory, including maintenance of equipment and inventory of consumable supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, State Departments of Health, Good Documentation Practices (GDP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Clinical Practices (GCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), EMEA and FDA Guidelines, and other relevant regulations (e.g., CLIA, CAP, USP, ISO 9001, USDA, HTA license, DEA, and State Controlled Substance programs).

  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and proficiently understand and absorb new information.

  • Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in appearance, presentation, and demeanor.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple processes and manage deadlines.

Qualifications

While a BS degree or at least 1 year of clinical/research lab experience is preferred, we encourage candidates who are passionate about working in a lab setting to apply.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, speak, hear/listen, and smell.
  • Must display manual dexterity and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment

  • Full-time, Monday through Friday workweek during general business hours.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
  • Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, biohazards, and flammable liquids.
  • Occasional use of equipment with moving mechanical parts, with risk of electrical shock and vibration.
