Laboratory Technician Assistant 1 PSC

About the role

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 1 (LTA 1) to join the team. This position involves lab specimen processing. Schedule

Full-time evening shift Monday‑Friday (2:00 pm‑10:30 pm), every other weekend.

Responsibilities

• Ensures accurate specimen processing to maintain specimen integrity; verifies product and/or test components when processing.
• Manages specimen accessioning accurately/efficiently to provide quality specimens for Laboratory testing.
• Performs billing/registration procedures accurately and efficiently to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with team members to optimize job performance and foster working relationships.
• Participates in annual skills review, written evaluation of personal knowledge and direct observation of technique and process prior to evaluation deadline.
• Responsible for 24‑hour urine container preparation and receipt (verifies collection technique, total volume and correct preservative as per facility policy).

Requirements

• Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: No experience required.
• Certification: Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred: Lab experience; work experience.
