About the role

Inova Primary Care Laboratory is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC (LTA 2 PSC) to join the team. This is a part‑time Day Shift position (Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 1:00 pm) located in Fairfax, VA. Responsibilities

• Accurately manages specimen preparation steps, storage, and packaging for transport according to lab protocols, preserving specimen integrity and quality.
• Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with Inova coworkers, physicians, physician office staff, care facility staff, and government facility staff to optimize performance and foster relationships.
• Performs patient registration, billing, and test order procedures accurately and efficiently to ensure correct testing, reporting, billing, and regulatory compliance.
• Collects specimens properly and timely, labels all specimens according to Inova policy, and confirms patient identity before collection.
• Provides excellent patient and customer service using AIDET principles, ensuring the correctness and quality of technical information and directions given to customers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of phlebotomy training required; certificate from a phlebotomy program or another allied health training program (e.g., Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, Medical Technologist).
• Experience: 1 year of experience in a Patient Service Center environment or at least 6 months in an Inova Patient Service Center.
• This experience requirement can also be met by successfully completing the Inova Phlebotomy School Certification: Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire.
• Preferred: Crucial knowledge of all specialty tests ordered by physicians and NPs; phlebotomy expertise.
