The Laboratory Technician Assistant 2 PSC supports laboratory operations by managing specimen preparation, storage, and transport to ensure specimen integrity for testing. They perform accurate patient registration, specimen collection, labeling, and handle billing procedures, ensuring compliance with lab protocols. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential to optimize performance and maintain strong relationships with healthcare staff, physicians, and patients. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality patient and customer service using AIDET principles.

Responsibilities

• Manage specimen preparation, storage, and packaging according to protocols
• Perform proper and timely specimen collection, labeling, and documentation
• Communicate effectively with staff and patients to ensure clarity and quality
• Process patient registration, billing, and test orders accurately
• Support regulatory compliance and quality standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent; completion of Phlebotomy or Allied Health training program
• At least 1 year of experience in a Patient Service Center or 6 months at an Inova center, or successful completion of Inova Phlebotomy School
• Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire
• Preferred: Phlebotomy certification
