Laboratory Technician 1
About the role
ALS Services USA, Corp is seeking a Laboratory Technician 1 to perform routine laboratory tests and analyses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols. This entry-level position is crucial for supporting our analytical operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples for various laboratory analyses according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory equipment, including but not limited to centrifuges, pH meters, and balances.
- Perform routine chemical and physical tests on samples, accurately recording results.
- Assist senior laboratory staff with more complex testing procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory workspace.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Document all work accurately and legibly in laboratory notebooks or LIMS system.
- Participate in quality control activities and instrument calibration as directed.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or discrepancies to supervisory staff.
- Assist with inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science) preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in an analytical or industrial environment.
- Basic understanding of laboratory safety procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques (e.g., pipetting, weighing, solution preparation).
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with precision.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Schedule
Evening shift, 4pm-12:30am.
