About the role

We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician for the 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM). This individual will be responsible for various laboratory testing, including Titrations, ICP analysis, and viscosity testing, while following all safety and quality guidelines and maintaining satisfactory production levels.

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks within time restraints and according to relevant quality and safety policies and procedures.
• Use results from test methods in calculations to further characterize data (e.g., Calculated Cetane Index, Viscosity Index).
• Prepare and/or aliquot samples as part of sample preparation for required tests.
• Load samples on validated automated instrumentation following method quality requirements.
• Perform routine daily and/or weekly verifications and/or calibrations on equipment and instrumentation following method quality requirements (minimum Level 3 or 4 may be required based on complexity and quality risk).
• Perform direct testing on samples (e.g., wet chemistry), with minimum level requirements varying by method complexity, safety risk, and quality risk.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and/or instrumentation, with minimum level requirements varying by task complexity, safety risk, and quality risk.
• Perform calculations required for analytical preparations.
• Prepare samples for multiple testing requirements.
• Perform housekeeping duties, including assisting with storage and disposal of client samples.
• Monitor inventory levels for supplies and reagents required for test methods.
• Prepare and maintain standards and reagents (minimum Level 2 may be required based on complexity and quality risk).
• Generate, accumulate, handle, transport, and dispose of hazardous wastes in compliance with ALS policy.
• Collect, store, and label hazardous waste generated.
• Contribute to the sample receival process, including opening packages, sorting mail, and data entry.
• Participate in shift handovers to ensure smooth transitions.
• Identify continuous improvement activities for the site.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Laboratory experience is preferred.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working.
• Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers.
• Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware.
• Average vision to read reports and operate equipment.
• Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
