Laboratory Manager
About the Role
The Laboratory Manager oversees and supports the technical operation of all assigned areas of the Clinical Laboratory, including employee oversight and staffing, regulatory compliance, quality and performance improvement activities, problem resolution, compliance with laboratory and hospital policies, and other assigned responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients appropriate to the age of patients served (adults and pediatrics).
- Oversees and supports technical operations of all assigned areas of the laboratory.
- Manages staffing and scheduling of lab personnel.
- Fosters a positive work environment to promote employee morale and retention.
- Plans and sets agendas for laboratory monthly and quarterly meetings with input from the Laboratory Director.
- Enforces hospital and laboratory policies.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Sets and monitors goals and objectives for the department.
- Represents the laboratory on various hospital committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in required areas of laboratory expertise.
- Strong interpersonal skills to successfully interact with all laboratory customers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Science or Medical Technology.
- Medical Technologist with State of Tennessee Supervisor's license.
- Minimum of 2 years of general laboratory management experience, including employee relations, laboratory operations oversight, problem-solving, workflow analysis, planning, and leading meetings.
- Proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and laboratory data compilation software.
