About the Role

Primarily works in the lab technical departments. Assists with technical procedures within regulatory guidelines. If allowed by local and state regulations, may perform CLIA-waived and moderate complex testing as needed for department organization. May also perform phlebotomy support.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with telephone calls and other departmental clerical duties.
  • Performs department specimen intake, processing, and organization for the technical testing area.
  • Performs department support functions, such as culture plating, histology staining, and specimen loading on instruments depending on department needs.
  • Reviews pending test lists to assist with department turnaround time.
  • Assists in solving problems, investigates specimen issues, and handles customer inquiries.
  • Provides information regarding specimen and testing status as appropriate.
  • Monitors and stocks department supplies and reagents.
  • Logs reagents and supplies, following department protocols.

Requirements

  • Required: High School GED, upon hire.
  • Preferred: Certificate from a Lab Assistant Program.
  • 6 months experience in an acute care facility.
  • Certificate from a Phlebotomy program.

Pay

$16.42 - $23.19 per hour.
