About the role

Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures for blood tests and adheres to all safety protocols. Receives and distributes specimens within the laboratory. Processes specimens for testing, storage, and sends them to reference laboratories as needed. Demonstrates understanding of specimen requirements and limitations of testing procedures. Performs waived testing as necessary. Understands the functionality of the laboratory's automation line. Provides information and support to other laboratory personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and distributes specimens accurately and promptly.
  • Processes specimens for testing, including storage and sending to reference laboratories.
  • Ensures specimens meet functional requirements and limits of testing procedures.
  • Supports other laboratory personnel with information and guidance.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology.
  • 3 months of phlebotomy experience, or a phlebotomy certificate with 32 hours of clinical rotation, or 6 months of experience in a medical field providing patient care that includes drawing blood or blood processing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Completion of one or more college-level courses in a biological science (equivalent to the above requirements).

Compensation & Benefits

Schedule

Works Monday through Friday from 02:30 AM to 06:30 AM. Position type: Part-time.
