About the role

$5,000 Sign-on Bonus
Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 3:00 PM - 12:30 AM

Responsible for the collection of blood specimens ensuring patient safety and consistency with age-specific considerations for all patients, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics as well as employees. Performs venous, capillary, and infant heel sticks to ensure specimen integrity. Follows proper labeling protocols for specimen tubes/containers and order of draw/collection. Performs clerical functions, processing duties, specimen receipt and distribution of laboratory specimens, and training of students and employees. Performs phlebotomist duties as assigned. Must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures. Inputs and retrieves data from laboratory/hospital computer system.

Responsibilities

  • Operate basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuges
  • Attention to detail to verify relevant data and process specimens ensuring appropriate specimens are handled, packaged, and shipped to the designated laboratory according to established protocols and specimen integrity
  • Correct application of laboratory medical terminology and measurements
  • Organizational, planning, and prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks and accomplish work accurately and timely
  • Demonstrates problem-solving by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns
  • Performs related duties as required

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Venipuncture experience required
  • American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required, must be obtained within 7 days of hire

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • 6 months of job-related experience
