Laboratory Assistant
About the role
The Laboratory Assistant plays a crucial role in solving diagnostic mysteries, utilizing expertise and advanced technology to precisely collect, prepare, and process a diverse range of patient specimens for various diagnostic tests.
Responsibilities
- Practices positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
- Practices HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions. Establishes and maintains good communication within the department and with other hospital departments.
- Processes specimen into the lab, organized for department distribution. Moves processed samples quickly to laboratory departments for testing.
- Takes responsibility for the department workflow, assisting all members of the team to maintain department workflow and efficiency. Creates an atmosphere by manner, work and deed that fosters teamwork and collaboration.
- Handles Laboratory Send-out testing. Processes, organizes, packing lists and packaging for testing sent to external laboratories according to procedures.
- Uses good judgment when problem solving and requests help when needed.
Requirements
- High School Graduate, upon hire or High School GED, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR), within 90 Days
- Excellent customer service and time management skills, upon hire
Preferred
- Certificate Lab Assistant Program, upon hire or Certificate Phlebotomy program, upon hire
- 6 months experience in an acute care facility
Qualifications
- High School Graduate, upon hire or High School GED, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR), within 90 Days
- 6 months experience in an acute care facility

Pay
The posted compensation range of $16.83 - $23.77 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
