About the role

Support the daily, efficient running of the Almac Diagnostic Services Laboratory in Durham, NC. Responsibilities include housekeeping, equipment maintenance, inventory management, LIMS usage, data compilation, and adherence to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Manage stock and inventory tasks: perform weekly stock checks, inspect and release goods into production areas, and label components.
  • Order, receive, and log laboratory consumables, reagents, equipment, and materials.
  • Use LIMS to receive, log, store, dispatch, and dispose of courier sample packages and customer samples.
  • Maintain high levels of cleanliness and housekeeping in all laboratories, including proper disposal of waste and expired reagents/kits/consumables.
  • Ensure availability and suitability of protective clothing and equipment, including off-site cleaning of lab coats.
  • Assist in generating, revising, and reviewing laboratory or equipment-related SOPs and other quality documents.
  • Maintain supporting documentation according to procedures; promptly document and correct non-conformances with minimal disruption to lab work.
  • Perform manual handling of gas cylinders and dewars.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Knowledge of laboratory terminology (biohazards, PPE, decontamination, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for creating, editing, and saving documents.
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques, such as maintaining clean and contamination-free workspaces.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory safety protocols and procedures.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • Associate’s degree in a science-related field or 6 months–1 year of experience in a commercialized environment or pharmaceutical/biotech technical role, with familiarity in GXP, GMP, GLP, or GCP practices.
  • 1+ year of experience working in a pharmaceutical or laboratory-based role.
  • Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Experience maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Familiarity with GMP, CLIA, and CAP laboratory guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice and Good Documentation Guidelines.
