Details Posted: 04-Aug-26 Location: Los Angeles, California Categories Academic / Research Internal Number: 152948540 Description The Department of Neurobiology is seeking to hire a motivated Laboratory Assistant to support an NIH-funded research program investigating the genetic mechanisms underlying Rett syndrome and related neurodevelopmental disorders. The incumbent will assist with day-to-day laboratory operations, including mammalian cell culture, organoid maintenance, and single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data analysis. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative neuroscience research in a collaborative laboratory environment focused on advancing the understanding of neural development and disease. Hourly range: $26.23-$30.93 Qualifications Required: Demonstrated skills in mammalian tissue culture. Demonstrated skills working with human pluripotent stem cells. Demonstrated skills in conducting cellular differentiation experiments (organoid and non-organoid). Demonstrated skills in tissue collection, fixation, processing, and cryosectioning. Demonstrated skills in conventional and confocal microscopy. Demonstrated skills in molecular biology (DNA cloning, PCR, plasmid preparation, DNA and RNA extraction). Skills in Photoshop and Illustrator, and familiarity with microscopy image collection and processing software applications such as ImageJ, Axiovision, Zen, and Imaris, and statistical analysis programs such as Prism.Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational abilities. Able to maintain complete and accurate records.Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non- technical personnel at various levels in the organization.Demonstrated experience and ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff; technical, students, faculty and administratorsSelf-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines Preferred Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
