Labor Relations Consultant
About the role
The Labor Relations Consultant serves as a trusted advisor on labor and workforce relations, providing expert guidance to leadership on complex labor matters and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that foster positive workplace relationships, resolve labor disputes, and mitigate risks while supporting the organization’s goals.
Responsibilities
- Act as a subject matter expert on labor relations, advising leadership on compliance with federal and state labor laws and best practices.
- Develop and implement policies, processes, and communication strategies that promote a positive work culture and proactively address employee concerns.
- Support the resolution of complex workforce relations matters, including investigations, grievances, and workplace disputes, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
- Provide expert consultation and training to leadership on labor relations, workforce compliance, and employee engagement strategies.
- Analyze labor relations trends and provide data-driven insights to leadership to inform decision-making and mitigate potential risks.
- Partner with HR and leadership teams to align labor relations strategies with organizational goals and workforce needs.
- Support performance improvement initiatives by identifying workplace trends and recommending solutions that enhance team member relations.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field required. Extensive labor relations experience may be considered in place of a degree.
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in labor relations, employee relations, or a related area required. At least 3 years of specialized labor relations experience strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR/SPHR preferred.
