About the role

Sartorius has an onsite position available for an experienced Labor & Employment Relations Manager to join our HR team and provide strategic legal guidance on labor and employment matters across North America, Canada, LATAM, and Puerto Rico. This role will partner closely with HR Business Partners and leadership to ensure compliance with employment laws, mitigate risk, and support a positive employee experience in a dynamic, global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Advising HR and business leaders on U.S. federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as applicable regulations in Canada, LATAM and Puerto Rico.
  • Draft, review, and update employment-related local policies, handbooks, and agreements (e.g., offer letters, separation agreements, confidentiality agreements).
  • Advise and counsel complex employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations, ensuring legal compliance and consistency.
  • Support compliance programs related to wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, and workplace safety.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting employment practices and proactively recommend adjustments.
  • Cook up with external counsel as needed for litigation, arbitration, or specialized regional matters.

  • Support the development and delivery of Employment Law Trainings to key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of experience in employment law, preferably in a multinational corporate environment or reputable law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. employment laws (FLSA, Title VII, ADA, FMLA, etc.) and familiarity with Canada, Puerto Rico and LATAM labor frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-border employment issues and provide practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Fluency in English required; Spanish or Portuguese is a plus.
  • Potential for up to 10% travel.

Pay

Compensation for this position will be a base salary between $125,000.00 and $145,000.00 plus bonus depending on experience.
