About the role

Venable LLP's Labor and Employment Group seeks a midlevel associate with 2+ years of experience in a law firm setting to join their practice in either the Washington, D.C. or Baltimore office.

Responsibilities

  • Work on challenging matters in a collaborative environment alongside experienced practitioners who are invested in your professional growth.
  • Experience in both employment litigation and counseling, including:
    • Anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, retaliation, and wage-and-hour cases
    • Restrictive covenant advice, including non-disclosure agreements, non-competition agreements, and non-solicitation agreements
    • Internal investigations of alleged workplace misconduct
    • Related employment policy drafting experience, including employee handbooks and employment offer letters
  • Prior matter experience with traditional labor matters such as collective bargaining, and union member arbitration is a plus, but not required.
  • Provide business-oriented, strategic advice to clients.

Requirements

  • Hold a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to, and in good standing with, the relevant jurisdiction's bar.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Superior organizational abilities.
  • An outstanding academic record.

Pay

The salary range for associate positions is $215,000 to $355,000 per year, depending upon associate level. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of job-related factors including, but not limited to, years of related experience, level of education, skills, credentials and certifications, responsibilities and performance.
