About the role
The engagement is ongoing with an immediate start, and hours are flexible. The firm is open to candidates available full-time or part-time, depending on candidate's preferences.
Responsibilities
- Handle or support wage and hour class actions, PAGA/representative actions, and single-plaintiff employment litigation matters
- Draft and argue motions, oppositions, and related briefing in California state and federal court
- Manage written discovery, including propounding and responding to discovery requests and preparing discovery strategy
- Take and defend depositions; assist with deposition preparation and witness examination
- Support mediation prep and participate in mediations and settlement discussions
- Aid in trial preparation, including exhibit organization, witness preparation, and pretrial briefing; opportunities for direct trial participation depending on experience and engagement scope
- Advising on case strategy and risk; work directly with supervising partners and, where appropriate, client teams
- Handle routine court appearances and hearings as needed
Requirements
California-licensed attorney in good standing with 4+ years of California labor and employment litigation experience, with meaningful exposure to wage and hour class actions, PAGA/representative actions, and single-plaintiff matters
Strong grasp of the full litigation lifecycle, from case assessment and pleadings through discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial prep
Strong legal writer with the analytical chops to handle complex, multi-party matters without sacrificing quality or efficiency
Deposition experience (taking and/or defending) preferred; comfort with routine court appearances and hearings a plus
Able to work independently in a remote environment, managing concurrent assignments across multiple matters with minimal oversight
Qualifications
Client-ready when needed, capable of representing the firm's interests directly with employer clients when the role calls for it

Pay
The annualized pay for this position ranges from $180,000 - $240,000 when calculated on a full-time basis. Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
