Lab Technician Ii

Prepare, monitor, conduct and analyze mechanical and hydraulic performance and durability tests on motors, pumps, and transmissions. Perform systems analysis, machine analysis, test stand fabrication, fixture modification, and installation of prototype hardware. Works primarily with Engineering but may also collaborate with Shop Floor Personnel, Customers, and the Sales Force.

Responsibilities

• Setup, operate, and maintain a variety of test equipment including performance and endurance test stands.
• Set up and conduct standard and non-standard, new design, and prototype assemblies for testing or as samples.
• Prepare technical reports and graphs.
• Fabricate test fixtures and fit-up transmissions, brakes, pumps, motors, and any prototype products on test vehicles.
• Perform measurement and analysis of components related to print specifications.
• Perform various other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Two years of college-level technical education or trade school preferred; may substitute related experience for education.
• Motivated self-starter and team player who can work to meet tight timelines.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to learn and use various electronic systems such as Somat and other test control and data acquisition software.
• Experience using welding, machining, and measurement tools.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, graphs, and circuit diagrams.
• May be required to work 2nd or 3rd shift as needed.
• Occasional overnight travel to customer sites or test locations.
