Lab Technician

Responsibilities

• Prepare PVC/HDPE compounds using laboratory mixer
• Evaluate plastic compounds using equipment like two roll mill, torque, rheometer, etc.
• Produce and test specimens using Izod impact, tensile test systems, FTIR, DSC, melt indexer, etc., in accordance with ASTM, NSF, and UL standards
• Monitor and evaluate short-term extrusion trials, prepare test specimens from trial samples using powered cutting devices like saws and routers
• Collect samples for product certification or preparing proposals for updated or new materials and products
• Document laboratory results in appropriate forms or reports for supervisors, other plants, or outside agencies

Qualifications

• A high school or college diploma with scientific background or work experience preferred
• Intermediate knowledge of MS Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents
• Comprehend and apply principles of basic math and algebra
• Apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems
• Ability to produce reports, specifications, procedures, etc. as needed
